Search by URL

It is possible to launch IATE queries via a URL. You will find below an example of a query with the available parameters explained:

List of parameters:

  • term* = any string
  • sl* = source-language code
  • tl = comma-separated list of target-language codes or ‘all’ (default)
  • fields = comma-separated list of field codes
    • 0: term (default)
    • 2: term note
    • 3: context
    • 7: language-level note
  • type = comma-separated list of term types (default value = all)
    • 0: abbrev
    • 1: formula
    • 2: phrase
    • 3: short form
    • 4: term
  • matching = single value
    • 0: any word
    • 1: all words (default)
    • 2: exact string
    • 3: exact match
    • 5: partial string
  • domains = comma-separated domain codes, as indicated on this page ☍. When a domain is selected, all of its subdomains are included (this option cannot be disabled).
  • source_reliability = comma-separated list of reliabilities (default value = all)
    • 0: β˜†
    • 1: β˜…
    • 2: β˜…β˜…
    • 3: β˜…β˜…β˜…
    • 4: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…
  • target_reliability = comma-separated list of reliabilities (default value = all)

REMARKS
  • The fields marked with * are mandatory. Other fields will take the default value if not specified.
  • When searching in a field other than term, the only accepted matching type is 5 (partial string), and the term type is not accepted at all.
  • In the above example, if the matching type is not specified, it will default to 5 (partial string) rather than to 1 (all words).
  • Only the parameters available to external users are available through the search by URL.
