IATE provides you with a range of formatting options in a bar that appears under most fields when you open them for editing, eliminating the need to use HTML tags to apply formatting. When pasting content from external sources into an IATE field, only ‘allowed’ formatting will be maintained.
 You should only use formatting options that are allowed in IATE, and avoid introducing other formatting, which may be lost or pose problems when exporting data for use in other environments like CAT tools. |
Allowed formatting:
- bold
- italics
- subscript
- superscript
- small text
- hypertext
The ‘Remove formatting’ 
button allows you to clear formatting from selected text in one click.
The ‘Change capitalisation’ 
button allows you to easily change between lowercase, uppercase and initial capitals, particularly in the case of EUR-Lex titles.
