Entries in IATE have a series of fields that are either mandatory or optional.
MANDATORY FIELDS
Mandatory fields are marked with a red asterisk * in front of the field label in the IATE user interface. You need to fill in these fields to be able to create an entry. They include the:
- Source language
- Target language
- Term
- Term reference
- Term type
- Reliability
- Domain
- Owner (automatically populated)

OPTIONAL FIELDS
Optional fields can be added or removed at any time. You do not need to fill in any of these fields to be able to create an entry. These fields can be found at Term Level (TL), Language Level (LL), and Language-Independent Level (LIL). They include:
