Exports (*)

After running a search in IATE, you can export your results in various formats, making it easier to analyse or share them, archive them for future reference, or integrate them into CAT tools.

On this page, you will find out how to:

  • Export your results
  • Set your export format
  • Retrieve your export request

Read more on user groups and access rights.

EXPORT YOUR RESULTS

You can export IATE entries resulting from a standard search, a search by collection or an advanced search, or entries from a terminology project.

  • From the results page, click on the β€˜Export’ button in the top-right corner, just above the results list.
  • In the advanced search screen, you can click on β€˜Export’ without launching a search first.
  • From the Preparatory material or Project entries tabs in the TPM, select the rows of the entries you wish to export and click on β€˜Export entries’.

A pop-up window will appear, displaying the number of entries found. In this box, you will need to:

  • name your export request;
  • choose the desired output format.
To help prevent system overload, export operations are set to run overnight by default. This can be changed if needed for small exports by flicking the β€˜Execute after core hours’ switch.

By default, confidential data are included in the exports. To filter them out, flick the β€˜Do not filter out confidential data’ switch.

The last selected parameters are saved in the export pop-up and can be reused for subsequent export requests across searches and sessions.
The standard export limit is set to 5 000 entries, while administrators can run bigger exports (up to 100 000 entries).
SET YOUR EXPORT FORMAT

To export your search results, you can choose between the following formats:

  • SDLTB: intended for CAT tools and with a predefined set of fields (entry ID, domain, primarity, language code, definition, language level note, term, term type, evaluation, reliability, term reference, term note, institution TL and pre-IATE TL);
  • SDLTB Light: intended for CAT tools and with a limited set of fields (entry ID, domain, primarity, language code, term, term type, evaluation, reliability, term reference and institution TL);
  • SDLTB Mini: intended for CAT tools and with a more restricted set of fields (entry ID, domain, origin, language code, term and evaluation);
  • TBX: interoperable format (TBX2) with a predefined set of fields (entry ID, domain, primarity, language code, definition, language level note, term, term type, evaluation, reliability, term reference, term note, institution TL and pre-IATE TL);
  • XLS: comprehensive export with one row per term, that can be used for batch update operations if all fields are selected (including technical fields);
  • XLS Light: simplified version with one row per entry (languages are displayed side-by-side) and limited metadata (entry ID as hyperlink, domain(s), primarity, lifecycle, term (synonyms are concatenated in a single cell and separated by β€˜|’), reliability, evaluation, and definition).
In the case of exports in XLS format, you can:
– export all fields (default option) or select specific fields from the list that will display when flicking the β€˜Export all fields’ switch;
– export the IATE ID as plain text (default option) or as a link by flicking the β€˜Export IATE ID as plain text’ switch.
RETRIEVE YOUR EXPORT REQUEST

After submitting your request, it will be processed by the system. To check its status, go to the β€˜Management’ menu and access the β€˜Asynchronous requests’ tab. Here, you can see whether your request has been submitted, delayed (i.e. scheduled to run overnight), is in progress or has been finished.

Once completed, the exported file will be available for download for seven days.

Click on the β€˜Expand’ icon to display the export details, including the list of IDs and the selected output format.

Click on the β€˜Download’ icon to retrieve your file.
