The watch lists ☍ enable you to follow changes made to specific IATE content via personalised lists. It is a useful tool for Administrators who want to monitor collections or specific entries, as well as for basic users, translators and terminologists interested in the evolution of particular terms or entries.

Watch entries
You can watch whole entries, parts of entries and collections. Create lists of items to be monitored by clicking on your username (top right) and selecting ‘Watch lists’. The items in the lists are sorted by the date of the last change to the entry or part of entry you are watching.
To add entries to a watch list:
- from the full entry view, click on the ‘Watch’
icon, or
- directly from the watch list, enter entry IDs and select the level you want to watch. You can watch a level individually or in cascading mode (i.e. including the levels below).
![]() – via the ‘Watch’ option in the Quick edit panel, – through the contextual menu, or – via the ‘Watch’ icon at LIL, LL and TL. |
An alert (orange bell icon) appears in the list if the watched level is modified or deleted. If you are watching the content in cascading mode, you will also be alerted if the sublevels are modified, deleted, or if new sublevels are created.
You can mark alerts as read individually or in bulk. To view details of an alert, check the history or preview directly in the watch list table.
Watch collections
You can search for and select a collection (LIL, LL or TL) to watch in the ‘Watched collections’ tab. As with individual entries, you can choose to only watch the level to which the collection was attached, or the sublevels as well (cascading mode).
Alerts will be displayed and can be managed following the principles explained above.
Filter watched items
In the list of watched items (either by collection or by list of entries), you can filter by username and user institution by hovering over and clicking on this information in the ‘Last modified by’ column.
When you apply a filter, a search box will also be displayed allowing you to change your filter values or clear the filtering altogether.
Stop watching entries or collections
You can stop watching a collection by removing the watch list for that collection, or stop watching entries by removing individual rows, removing the whole watch list, or by selecting the ‘Watch’ option/icon again directly in full entry view.
