Expanded search

By default, your queries are launched with the default IATE search criteria, which ensure that all relevant results are found. The expanded search gives you the possibility to narrow down the search results by changing the matching option and applying filters. You can also launch a full text search by selecting fields other than ‘Term’.

In this page you will find information on:

  • Open expanded search
  • Filters
  • Quick filtering
  • Users and search access rights
OPEN EXPANDED SEARCH

Click on ‘Open expanded search’ to display the following:

  • the matching options (default value is ‘All words’) (*)
  • a filter by source term types (all selected by default) (*)
  • a selector to choose the field to be searched (default value is ‘Term’) (*)
FILTERS

A second block includes the three main filters:

  • domains (no filtering applied by default)
  • owner (no filtering applied by default)
  • collections (no filtering applied by default)

Click on ‘Show more’ to display additional filters:

  • primary or non-primary (no filtering applied by default)
  • detailed filtering of collections by entry level (no filtering applied by default)
  • reliability of the source and target terms (no filtering applied by default)
  • validation status (no filtering applied by default) (*)
  • confidentiality (no filtering applied by default) (*)
  • entry status (raw entries excluded by default) (*)
  • field completion score (no filtering applied by default) (*)
Search criteria and applied filters are displayed in the summary of criteria above the results. If you don’t get any results, adjust your search criteria or remove possible filters.
QUICK FILTERING

It is possible to quickly remove the majority of the filters applied by hovering your mouse over each of them in the summary of search criteria and clicking when the magnifying glass with the minus sign is displayed.

In the same way, you can apply additional filters without having to open the Expanded search. A magnifying glass with a plus sign will appear when you hover your mouse over the domains labels, the entry owner or the primary star in any of the results displayed. If you click, you will apply a filter using that value and your search will be relaunched.

Hold down CTRL to add additional domains or collections to your filters.
If you are logged in, you can set your user preferences with your preferred search settings. They will be saved as your default and you will be able to return to them quickly.
