The ‘owner’ metadata field in IATE indicates the EU institution, agency, or body responsible for the creation, management, and/or validation of the entry or level. The ownership ‘cascades’ when you create a new entry, meaning your organisation name will be automatically added as ‘owner’ for all sub-levels you create.
When entries are owned by other institutions than yours, you can still update and modify data, delete the entry or part of it, and even change the ownership. Refer to the ‘Entries owned by other institutions’ dedicated page for best practices regarding interinstitutional update or deletion, and the change of ownership.
