Action buttons

IATE includes buttons at different levels to perform direct actions when creating or updating an entry. In this page, you will find out how to use these action buttons to do the following:

  • Add/remove fields
  • Sort elements
  • Edit particular fields
ADD/REMOVE FIELDS

The ‘Add‘ button always appears under the field or level to which it refers. By hovering your mouse over it, it will display a tooltip explaining what will be added if you click on it (e.g. ‘Add Term’, ‘Add new Cross Reference’ or ‘Add Context’).

Following the same logic, the ‘Remove’ button also applies to single fields, composite fields, and levels.

In full entry view, the add/remove options for the LIL, LL and TL can also be found in the contextual menu or the Quick edit panel.
sort ELEMENTS

The ‘Sort’ button enables you to rearrange the order of the fields according to your needs:

  • drag the icon and drop it on top of the icon of the other element whose place it should take.

This action button is also used to sort term levels after activating the option in the language section.

EDIT particular fields

Some fields, such as collections, attachments and domains, can be edited or managed by clicking directly on the ‘Edit’ or ‘Add’ button next to them. Refer to the sections dedicated to each of these fields for more information.
